For a product to gain a BIO mark, it must grow in a land that has been treated in this "non-chemical" way for at least two years.
The storage and distribution of products are strictly monitored. Traditional disinfectants may not be used in storage facilities and transport companies must hold a certificate proving that they follow the strict ecological regulations.

The state guaranteed mark for organic farming products is called BIO. Such marked products come from a farm meeting the strict conditions of the law on ecological agriculture and EU Council Regulation No. 2092/1992/EEC.
Meeting the criteria for its granting is always guaranteed by an independent certification organization (Biokont, Abedcert, Kez) supervised by the state and accreditation institutions such as the Czech Accreditation Institute, Public Service Company (Český institut pro akreditaci, o.p.s.).
